The Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County offer recreation, companionship, supervision and much more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of children by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, influence and belonging. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County are a “Place To Go & A Place To Grow” for all young people from Somerville, Medford and Cambridge. We are “The Positive Place For Kids”.
The Greendale Family Branch opened in 1978 and is located in two buildings totaling 110,000 square feet. The Higgins Building, conveniently located across the street from the Main Building, houses a state-of-the art fitness center, and a full day childcare program. At Greendale there is something for everyone! The friendly staff is always ready to answer questions or help you to find the perfect program for you or your child.
The Merrimack Valley YMCA has always stressed personal growth, teamwork, fair play, participation and fun in all YMCA programs. Our environment, role models and activities challenge participants to demonstrate the four core values fundamental to character development: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility. Our programs and services have had a positive impact on individuals, families and the community at large.
The MetroWest YMCA is committed to providing a full range of programs for our members, as well as non-members. Their programs, services and facilities are designed to enhance the spiritual, mental, physical and social quality of life for families and communities. The Lowell YMCA offers members of all ages a chance to develop and grow in a social environment. From childcare and summer camps to group fitness classes and teen programs, the Lowell Y has something for everyone.
The West End House Boys and Girls Club offers life shaping opportunities to immigrant and urban children and teens. Through caring relationships with trusted adults, as well as experiences and instruction in Education & Technology; Sports, Fitness & Nutrition, Leadership & Life Skills and Visual & Performing Arts, members receive the guidance and support needed to grow into strong, healthy, self-sufficient adults.
Girls Incorporated has evolved considerably since young women formed the War Community Service in 1917. It has undergone many growth cycles in order to address the changing needs of the community. Shortly after moving to its present site in 1945, this organization became a charter member of Girls Clubs of America, Inc. In 1990, the national organization changed its name to Girls Incorporated to better reflect new national trends for more meaningful and educational programs for girls.
The Andover branch hosts over 18,000 people per months and reaches over 63 communities in Massachusetts. Currently there are 5 full classrooms serving hundreds of children each year but there are no computers in any of them as the perception of Andover demographics has prohibited sources of funding to implement a proper computer learning center. The YMCA’s mission is to provide quality services to all members of the community, and has established a mentoring component of the Teen Achievers Program for inner-city youth in 2005. With the addition of a WARM2Kids Learning Center, our youth can benefit from computer skill development early on in their lives. All corporate supporters are eligible for a variety of benefits which are focused on marketing, brand exposure, advertising, on site promotions, community outreach and employee incentives.
The Jewish Community Center of the North Shore is dedicated to maintaining and enriching Jewish identity; enhancing personal, social and physical development; developing leadership ability and participating in and contributing to the welfare of the total community. The North Shore JCC is a member of the JCCs of North America.
The Mission of Boston Centers for Youth & Families is to enhance the quality of life for Boston's residents by supporting children, youth and families through a wide range of programs and services. The BCYF Streetworker Program has been hailed as one of the most effective youth prevention and early intervention services provided to Boston's youth. The goal of the program is to connect "hard-to-reach" youth to needed services and resources through direct, targeted street outreach.
