More than 14 million children in the U.S. are left unsupervised after-school. Studies have shown that, on school days, juvenile crime as well as drug and alcohol use peaks between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. With only 17% of at-risk youth being taught the basic life skills needed to make healthy choices, teens who do not participate in after-school programs are three times as likely to engage in high-risk behaviors.
A lack of positive programs, role models and competent supervision leave many parents concerned about the well-being of their children.
WARM2Kids’ resources are designed to fill idle after-school and summer hours with positive extended learning activities. By partnering with YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, Jewish Community Centers and other community organizations, the WARM2Kids content and program reach a widespread and diverse cross-section of youth. Together, WARM2Kids is working with these organizations to leave no child unsupervised and offer much-needed relief to families across America.
